Your Answer ▼ In some cultures, parents or teachers tend to tell children that nothing is impossible if they try their best. This message can have both positive and negative impacts on children. In this essay, I will discuss some advantages and disadvantages that would result from the message.
Children who have been taught that anything is achievable with much effort can develop a positive mindset. Even if they confronted some unexpected challenges, they will remind themselves of this message and can get the power to try hard to overcome their hardships and move on. For example, a lot of successful entrepreneurs emphasize that self-confirmation is the key to success. If people keep repeating in their minds that they can do everything, it will be more likely to happen in real life. In other words, our reality is what we have been constantly thinking in our heads.
On the other hand, these children who have been told this hopeful message since they were much younger could be disappointed when they become an adult and confronted limitations. For instance, children are full of hope and imagination. So they can dream of becoming a wizard and going to the Hogwart after watching the Harry Potter series. However, there are some things that cannot be realized in the real world like becoming a wizard or witch. If children later found that there is no way to achieve this goal, they will be so frustrated and this could have a bad influence on their emotions.
In conclusion, the effect of teaching children that any of their dreams can come true could affect them in positive or negative ways. Children can either develop confidence and self-trust or feel frustration and disappointment in that there are some things that cannot be accomplished in any way how hard a person tries. So when we teach children something, we need to be more careful and precise about what it means.
