Your Answer ▼ Undoubtedly,
there has been a rapid improvement in technology in the past decades, and we
have benefited from technological development. For instance, it is hard to
imagine living without smartphones or laptops which have dramatically changed our
daily lives. Due to
the technological development, our lives have become much more convenient. For
example, we had to carry a credit card, a camera, or a map when we go on a trip
twenty years ago. However, smartphones can provide all these necessary services
for travelling. In the past, we had to use pencil and paper to take notes
during classes. But now, we do not need to use them anymore in the presence of iPads
and Apple pencils, for example. Although
technology usually makes our lives much easier, some people are worried about the
fact that our lives have becoming more dependent on it. I also somewhat agree
with their concerns because it became unnecessary to learn something carefully or
memorize things these days. This is because we can look something up from the
internet whenever we need to. It is very convenient but it does not necessarily
mean that people have become more knowledgeable than before. Suppose there is a
sudden disconnection of the internet. People might realize that they cannot do
anything without the internet.
For this
reason, I agree with the statement that some changes are not welfare-improving
and have to be addressed in order for people to use the technology without potential
drawbacks. |
