Friends play an important part in our lives. We spend time together and share emotions. Many say that friends should have similar opinions, whereas others like friends who are different. Personally, I prefer to have friends who disagree with me.
Some people prefer to have friends that are just like themselves. They say if they are with someone who always has the same opinion, they can avoid arguments and have a great time together. If friends are interested in the same things they would always have things to talk about. Also, it will be easier to help each other when there is a problem. However, it would be hard to have diverse experiences. People will probably go to the place that they always go to and talk about the things that they talked about last week.
On the other hand, if one has friends who are not like herself, she would be able to have new experiences you never thought of. Today she might order something different to eat, maybe the one she never thought that she would try. Also, one can learn that there are different points of view in life. Arguing is not always a bad thing as long as people have an open mind and good arguments can widen their perspectives. For example, let’s say there is a person who thought that all married couples should have a child. One day she talked with a friend who thinks otherwise. After the conversation, she might be able to accept that it is up to the couple to decide if they want to have a kid or not and there is no right and wrong.
To sum up, I believe that people should have friends who have different ideas. When we are with someone different, we would have more chances to try new things and this definitely will make our life more colorful. |
