Overall, it is clear that female had more illiteracy rates than men all over the world. Furthermore, developing countries such as Sub-Saharan Africa, Arab States and South Asia had high proportion of illiteracy rates than those of other developed countries.
If you see the graph more closely, one can see that developed countries had less than 2 percent illiteracy rates in both men and women. Furthermore, both Latin America/Caribbean men and East Asia/Oceania men showed less than 10 percent illiteracy rates. Also, their female counterparts had less than 20 percent illiteracy rates. In contrast, in Sub-Saharan Africa, Arab States and South Asia, males had around 30 percent illiteracy rates. Also, women showed around 50percent high illiteracy rates in those countries.
In conclusion, generally, female had higher illiteracy rates than men in the world. Also, developing countries had much higher illiteracy rates than developed countries.
