Your Answer ▼ Many people believe that playing computer games at a young age has only negative effects due to their possibility of addiction and impact on concentration. Others, however, assert that children can learn time management skill and some games are educational. This essay will examine the positive and negative views on children playing computer games and provide a logical conclusion. On the one hand, children could be easily addicted to computer games. It is a well-known fact that children are vulnerable to stimulating games which makes harder to control playing it by themselves. Following that, game addiction has been increasing among students recently. Moreover, continuous exposure to computer games makes children to seek stimulating medias, which hinders the development of concentration. To illustrate, most students who are used to stimulation from computer games would refuse to try activities like research or studying which require concentration. As this shows, computer games definitely have a negative impact on growing kids’ development. On the other hand, playing computer games could be an opportunity to teach students to adjust their time. To be specific, kids should set time for playing games and try to keep it. This activity would be challenging for them, but it could teach them endurance and time management skill. Furthermore, there are some games that are helpful for the brain development. For instance, sudoku is one of the educational games which requires knowledge of math to play the game and enhances student’s quantitative skills. For these reasons, it is undeniable that computer games could be educational in some ways. In my opinion, problems caused by games could be solved through parent’s efforts to help their children to control their time. Through this effort, they would be able to learn controlling their time wisely and would not be addicted. To sum up, some individuals argue that playing computer games at a growing age is always negative because of the possibility of game addiction and low concentration. However, these issues could be redeemed by parent’s time management teaching. Therefore, due to the opportunity to teach children to control time and its use as an educational aid, I believe that playing games could be beneficial in some ways. |
