Your Answer ▼ These days, it is a subject of debate whether school or parents should teach children the way to be good members of society. Some people think that parents serve as a substantial role in teaching social skills to children. However, I strongly believe that school takes more portion to teach these skills because they give social interactions between peers and knowledge how to act in society from teachers.
Admittedly, parents take a big role in teaching their children the ways to be a good society member. As children spend a lot of time communicating with their parents in the initial growing term, they can pre-learn the basic actions and morals related to society. To be specific, children easily imitate their parents daily act or behaviour and established similar manners and thoughts as they tend to take this for granted. For this reason, parents can be regarded as primary sources to learn the way to be good members of society.
However, some people insist that school have more potential to teach various moral and behaviour tips which will be practically used after children take a role in society. It is undeniable that school is a community-based society which is constituted of various other students. So students can naturally possess profound experiences in this environment since they have to interact with their peers to adjust to school. As classes are regarded as a small society, children can establish their own ways to be good members in society by looking at other peers behaviours. Moreover, teachers in schools can also be a good guide for children to learn how to be a good member of society because teachers have profound counseling experiences which can be practically helpful for children.
To sum up, although both views are worth exploring, I think the role of schools to children in teaching about social skills far outweighs the role of parents. It is because this institute brings children more various social interaction with the support of teachers.
