Some people think art is not a practical nor necessary field that should be included in the school curriculum. However, I believe art must be one of the major subjects that students are required to take in school.
Some people argue that art can be dealt with in a private academy, not in a school. However, if it's exempted from the school curriculum, parents and students will not take art into account as an important element to be learned in their lives. School is not a place where teachers merely discipline students with theories but is accountable for enhancing all different kinds of capabilities out of each student. If a school only emphasizes the importance of major subjects, such as mathematics, science, or literature, those who are talented in the artistic areas might end up thinking they are always deteriorating. Therefore, in a bid to develop those artistically aspirational students, art should be a mandatory class for high school students.
Another reason to consider is that art has been immensely absorbed in our daily lives spanning architecture, web design, interior, etc. If the value of it wasn’t recognized and the aesthetics were excluded, all the territories surrounding our lives must have been extremely dreary and dark like a prison. In particular, art in online platforms has been emerging as one of the vital elements. For instance, a number of influencers are buoyed up by creating YouTube videos in an aesthetic way and by uploading their Instagram feeds with a variety of eye-catching pictures. Additionally, oftentimes, the successes of Apps and online games also depend on the beauty of their platforms.
Overall, seeing the importance of art that affects our daily lives and in order to encourage the students who are talented in art, art must be included in the school curriculums. |
