Advertising is pillar of business world and there are many ways to advertise product. Among all, it appears to be that emphasising product as new one takes off in advertising field nowadays and I think this is both positive and negative in two aspects: innovation and confusion. First of all, advertisement focusing on pointing product's new characteristic can lead to innovation. concentrating on new product makes companies innovate their products as least one tiny feature and compete with their rival companies. This will encourage birth of new technology and give consumer wider choices. For instance, Apple brings new iPhone almost every year, therefore rival companies should update their products not to be isolated from market and this allows consumers to experience new technology. However, the advertising strategy can make consumers confused, even disappointed. Most of companies let consumers confused by insisting that their products are new, even though some of them are not. This kind of aggressive advertising can lead to unsatisfied choice and regret for consumers. If the products are not as new as consumers wanted or not as good as the companies advertised, the companies will lose customer's trust. In conclusion, I believe emphasising that products are new has pros and cons. The trend of advertising is always changing, therefore using this trend intelligently as company and consumer is the most important thing we have to aware in this business world. |
