In the modern era, the issue of appearance at the workplace has become highly controversial. There are those who say that employees should dress up, however others believe that they should result in a high quality of work. In this essay, I will examine both sides of the argument and provide my overall opinion.
Generally speaking, there are two main reasons why organisations believe that their workers should wear neat clothes. Perhaps the main reason why people are in favour of this concept is because it helps employees have confidence. While putting on a nice jacket and tie, their posture becomes more dignified. Eventually, people who work in the company would make a successful contract. A further point in favour of wearing a smart suit is that staff would give a good first impression to people who are from the other company. If they don’t care about appearance, others think that they are not showing respect, which leads to the meeting being ruined.
Despite these arguments, there is also a case for the idea that the quality of work is the most important thing. Perhaps the main reason why they think that the work is above appearance is that caring about outer beauty is a waste of time and money. Instead, the team would enhance cooperation by developing their abilities. Secondly, high quality outcomes contribute to the finance of the organization. If the company gets enormous benefits, it would return to their employees and they spend incomes on reinforcing their strengths, which is a virtuous cycle.
In conclusion, this is a topic which is very relevant to modern society. Despite arguments to the contrary, I think that it is more important to value the quality of work than the worker's appearance. If people do not spend excessive time on their external condition, they would get the high quality of performance.
