In modern day capitalist society, money is highly valued by governments, as it is involved in any actions. Nonetheless, the advocates of this view, governments argue that economic development is their top priority when making a decision for the country. On the other hand, some people are inclined to say that other types of progress are equitably important. Personally, I believe it is fair for governments to have higher preference on economic progress than any other progresses. Admittedly, the critics believe other developments, such as social developments are highly important. This is because as a result of economic progress, eventually all the benefits are returned to citizens of the country. Ancient China, for example, prioritised economic advancement over progress of the quality of life of citizens. This led to the downfall of the kingdom because of uncontrolled people protesting for fair rights. Therefore, without developments targeted for citizens, a country cannot exist. Despite the influence of social progress, it is a fact that any advancements involve money as we are currently living in a capitalist society. To start any types of improvement for the nation, it primarily requires money. This meant the countries unable to afford the developing cost will continuously face downfall. Greece, for example, was unable to spend the initial investment for economic growth for many years, thus they have announced national bankruptcy. Nevertheless, it is inevitable for governments to prioritise financial improvements over other progresses to prevent the country from economic crisis. In conclusion, I would say that economic progress is clearly on the upper hand than other progresses. Although a country is made of people, it initially requires a stable financial background to support them. Therefore, economic improvement is the most important for a country. |
