The chart illustrates how the price of
copper, nickel, and zinc moved compared with previous month in 2014. Overall, It
is clear that all three metals have similar trend, decreasing from first
quarter to second quarter and starting to increase in October again. The most remarkable point is that a
fluctuation of nickel price. It reached the top(6%) at first, however, had
plummeted rapidly from January to June, which has the most steep graph compared
to the line of copper and zinc. The line charts of the average monthly change
in the prices are similar between nickel and copper, which it reached the low,
-3% and -0.5% respectively, in June and had a plateau stage during a third
quarter and then the change in prices soared rapidly after October. On the
other hand, the main difference in zinc graph is that it starts at the lowest
point among three metals at 1% and had increased to 3% next month. After that,
it also plummeted until June. The trend of zinc line graph after June has
similar trend with other metals.
task2 As the majority of issues with aging
society arise in the developed countries, some sociologists concern about the
future of our society while there are also merits the elderly can provide. I am
convinced that there are more issues than the merits of increasing aged people,
which are listed in this essay. ////(문단나눔) To begin with, as aging population goes up
during the decades, many classes for the elderly have been made in various
fields including mental health, physical health, even foreign language. By
participating in these classes, old people can socialize with their colleagues
and share their thought-provoking opinions. Therefore, it helps the society to
decrease the population of isolated, which energize the overall society. /// On the other hand, the aging society has a
large number of shortcomings. The government is required to spend lots of money
to take care of aged people, which means to look after the elderly is not
cost-effective. As the developed countries have higher population of the old
over 60-years-old, the governments have to guarantee their lives for numerous
aspects by imposing more taxes on the young. First of all, the elderly are
required to get pension for their rest life. Secondly, public transportation
fees are not charged for the people over 65-years-old in Korea. For these
reasons, although the large amount of money is left in national bank now, a big
increase in the population of the aged will threaten the financial department
of the government. /// In the end, although there are a few merits
with increasing the number of the old, I mainly argue that the demerits surpass
the merits. Despite of social benefits the elderly can provide, there are
concerns about increasing taxes and the government's finance. |
