If I could change one thing about my hometown, I think it would be the fact that there's no sense of community around the town. I think people who live in the same community don’t have relationships. Moreover, they don’t care about their neighbors, whatever they do
First of all, people come and go a lot all the time. Changes are so rapid. For example, if someone doesn’t care that you’ve moved right next door, it will still get ignored by your neighbor. Another reason is people’s changing careers. This means that they don't put down roots in the community. Unless there’s a strong connection between you and your community, there’s no interaction among people. Because of that, people are not tying to join the community organizations and they are not willing to get involved in anything to improve the quality of town or their life. If someone wants to put new street lights in town and need to get permission from people, then who’s going to be that person? Maybe no one would do it. People don't feel that it has anything to do with the. They won’t be involved improving anything about the town. They don't see the connection between themselves and the rest of their community.
Second of all, People don't try to support others around them. For example, they don't keep an eye on children, or check up on older folks. They're not aware of it. For example, they may not know if a neighbor loses a loved child. There's not a lot of community support for individuals.
Lastly, neighbors are not easily known to each other. Again, this is because people come and go within a few years. When neighbors go on a vacation, no one is keeping on eye on their house. For example, no one is making sure nothing suspicious is going on, or that lights are on in the middle of the night. Also, when neighbors' children are cutting across someone's lawn on their bikes, there's no friendly way of casually mentioning the problem. People immediately react as if it's a major property disagreement.
To conclude, my hometown is a nice place to live in many ways, but it will be nicer if we have sense of harmony and good relationships with neighbors
