Some people think that children should play sports for competition. However, as far as I am concerned, I firmly think it is
better to play sports for interest because children can relieve their stress
through sports. Anther reason for my opinion is that they cannot socialize with
people well since they always do some tasks competitively.
To begin with, it is important for children
to play sports as much as studying. They get lots of phycological stress from
studying, so they can release them by playing soccer or basketball with their
friends. For example, I will illustrate my experience as an example. When I was
a high school student, I was very tired due to studying late every day. I wanted
to refresh myself by doing some activities, so I played badminton with my friends after
eating lunch on a regular basis. I could be free from academic stress for a
while and it (대소문자 구분) was very intriguing and I was able to focus on studying more intensely after playing that. This shows that the purpose of playing sports should
be for enjoying.
On top of that, children cannot get along
well with people around them because they see all incidents are competition
through sports. To be specific, the ability to consider and yield is critical
to live the society; however, children who play sports for competition tend to
have obsession to win. For instance, there was a poll conducted by Gallup with
parents as respondents. The purpose of the survey was to understand the
consensus view about the (관사) main factor that why some people could not adjust in their
area. A majority of respondents ranked competition over other reasons. An overwhelming
87% had responded that people had negative impression to people who always considered
their works as competitions with their co-worker. Since those people did not
get the abilities of cooperation, they were not able to socialize with people
well. This survey shows that people who are competitive that can be gotten from
sports affect adversely their socialization.
To sum up, people can relax through sports and cannot hang out with people if they pursuit only competition constantly. In
this regard, I strongly believe that children should play sports for pleasure, not contest.
