Without doubt, studying in school is a significant part of today’s society. Some people think that it is better for students in high schools and colleges to study about specific fields and jobs than to study general subjects, while others do not. Both sides may have their own reasons to support their view. If I had to choose one, I would say that students in schools should focus more on particular fields and job for the two subsequent reasons: It is more useful for their future careers and it can help them perform better in school or at work.
First of all, focusing more on specific fields and jobs is more beneficial. There is surely the limitation of energy, time, and physical health that students use in one day. This fact indicates that people who are in schools have to study in far more efficient way. In fact, a lot of subjects they are obligated to study in schools these days are not related to their future careers. Also, it is much likely for students to lose motivation or passion about learning the subjects when they have no interest in since those are not relevant to future careers. Let me bring up my brother’s experience as an example. He was eager to become a professional soccer player at an early age. He attended a general high school, which had no a soccer club, so he had to practice just in an after-school activity. He had no opportunity to improve his skills, which made him frustrated very often. So he decided to transfer to a different school that had a professional soccer club. This school had a lot of expertises in the field of soccer. Thanks to the education and practice the schools offered, he could improve his skills as well as knowledge about soccer.
On top of that, learning about particular fields and jobs can stimulate students’ curiosity. Most students are inclined to study hard when learning the subjects that they have interest in. Furthermore, they will show a higher attendance rate when they are interested in. Thus, it is likely to lead to better performance in schools or at work place later. A recent study was conducted by the National Education Institutes with students in high schools and universities as respondents to determine which education approach would have more positive influence on them. It was found that students who focused more on particular fields and jobs performed far better in schools and at work. Not only that, they said that they were far more satisfied with the career-focused education.
To sum up, studying about particular fields has more advantages. Also students perform better when they focus on specific fields. In this regard, I firmly believe that it is better for students to learn more about particular fields or jobs. |
