▶ Your Answer : Quite a large number of people believe that the government's allocation of the country's money into space travel is not the best way to use their taxes, as space travelling needs astronimical amount of money while it does not produe much. I strongly agree with them and their are several reasons as follows. First of all, researching space travelling technologies, building space shuttle, and shooting the shuttle through the atmosphere into the universe costs a huge sum of money. according to NASA, each take off of a space shuutle costs about 1300 million dollors and th production of the shuttle costs much more while the production of the shuttle may last for more than few years. Second, the result of the space travel does not compensate much for the amount of time and money spent. It is true that the first several important voyages led to significant discoveries such as the composition of the rings of Saturn or the fact that there are no lives in Mars. However, as the astronomers have discovered most of the visible objects in our solar system, space exploration hardly gives any new informations about the universe due to physical obstacles. Nevertheless, space telescopes such as the Hubble has made and are making many new discoveries such as the large scale structure of the of the universe-the great wall- and existence of black holes. This is due to the fact that the speed of the space shuttle is too slow in comparison with photons. Lastly, investment on space travel, or astronautics, may result in inventions which may be hazardous to the society. There have been a few genocidal inventions inspired by aerospace technologies such as the intercontinental ballistic missile and stealth bombers. In conclusion, as investing on space travel is a waste of money and time as well as being able to be misused easily, I believe that the budgets allocated on aeronautics and astronautics should be reallocated. |
