Student’s intellectual, social and personal
development is highly influenced by practical experiences. With this understanding,
I believe that students should be required a variety of courses outside the
student’s field of study by the university. This is because various field of
studies enable students to broaden their educational perspectives and enjoy a
better quality of life in terms of job opportunities.
Firstly,
taking a variety of courses outside the student’s field of study make students
to broaden educational perspectives. Understanding the educational effects of
the students and the potential role of field trip offered by the university is
necessary to substantiate this view. To be specific, taking the courses on the
outside the student’s field of study means opportunities to learn new ideas,
because what is commonly accepted as the concept on the textbooks may lack of
case in real society. In these situation, students can learn more detail such
as watching work process and taking experiments about technical devices. Being
able to shift educational places helps students to understanding deeply and
improve their interesting about concept of the lectures. In this regard, I
argue that taking a variety of courses outside the student’s field of study
allow students to broaden educational perspectives.
Secondly,
taking a variety of courses outside the student’s field of study make students
to enjoy a better quality of life in terms of working environment.
Interestingly, a renowned social scientist in South Korea published an article
in “The Korean Herald” last Tuesday which claims that taking field trip offered
by the university enables students to strengthen competitiveness in society.
The article argues that the 84 percent of 200 Korean leading recruiters prefer
students who taken a lot of field trip. The recruiters show a such tendency
because they tend to be more practical and efficient. In the long run, the
practical mindset and the effective ability of processing the works enhance work
performances, which results from that they have well-balanced working knowledge
based on practical experience which taken various field trip during their
university years. Ultimately these ability helps job promotion and enjoy a
better quality of life in terms of working environment. I thought of this
report because the results of the survey resonated with my thoughts.
To
sum up, I believe that it is important for university to require students to
take a variety of courses outside the student’s field of study for the
following reasons: broadening educational perspectives and enjoying a better quality
of life in terms of working environment. Consequently, the importance of my
view cannot be underestimated for the reasons I have mentioned above.
