▶ Your Answer :
A number of students participate in sports
and social activities at universities and colleges. However, some schools do
not provide enough programs and facilities related to those activities even if
they have sufficient financial support for classes and libraries. An
appropriate amount of subsidies should be given to the physical and social
activities since it is greatly beneficial for students' health, and helps them
to decide what to do in the future.
To begin with, sports and social clubs let students become
healthy both emotionally and physically. If they stay in a classroom and study
for a long time, students usually get harshly stressed out. Since many students
eat snacks and drink soda when they study, some of them will possibly be obese.
The activities would help them to refresh their bodies and to eliminate bad
feelings. For example, in the University of Southern Maine, students are
supported by the school to participate in at least one sports team. With
sufficient financial aids, the school has various activities such as baseball,
ice hockey, and soccer. The university students play games with each other and
get along with team members all the times. It helps them to get out of stress,
and encourages them to keep good body shapes.
Moreover, the social activities and exercises may help
students to decide their future careers. Plausibly, students find their own
interests while participating in one of the activities. For instance, one
famous cruiser boarder in South Korea explained that she found her interest in
cruising when she was in a sports club. Since her university received
considerable financial support from the government, the school provided many
facilities and programs for her group. It greatly helped her to decide what to
do in her future. If there was no such experience, it might have been
impossible for her to find out what she actually wants to do as a job. Thus.
sports and social activities are equally crucial as academic activities for
university students.
In conclusion, universities and colleges should provide
financial aids to sports and social activities just as other fields. Since
those activities allow students to stay healthy and to decide future careers,
it would be reasonable to regard sports and social works as important as academic
activities. Therefore, financial supports for those activities are fully
justified.
