Undoubtedly, making a decision is plays a significant role in students’ lives in many of
the places where they play or study. Some people think that they should
participate in making a decision which can influence on their campus
lives while others do not believe this. If I
were asked to choose one, I would say that the students’
ideas should be included when making a decision
on campus. There are several reasons as follows.
To begin with, when students take part in making a
decision on campus, it is very beneficial to them because they would be able to know better about what they need on
campus than any other people. Students talk to each other, encounter other
students, and gain hands-on experience on campus. This experience is likely to
allow students to know the necessities for them on campus. For example, only
students can be aware of how long the break time between classes, the shortest
path from one building and to another,
and which food is really popular. Also, students know what time students
frequently study or what food students usually eat whereas people outside
campus are difficult to would not know
about them. This is because other people, so-called experts, cannot observe
their lives closely although they have a lot of specialized knowledge. By
solving students’ needs, they can focus on their study and recharge their
batteries effectively. Hence, students’ participation on campus policies has a
good effect on their campus lives.
In addition, if students taking take part in making a decision on campus, it permits students
them to improve their academic level. Students’
participation enables them to be confident, diligent, and self-disciplined.
This is likely to bring a good result in school. To illustrate, when my
youngest brother was in college, he used to be depressed, lazy, and selfish.
However, he has changed little by little after he started to join in a student union in his school. These union members
participated in university’s policies such as operation time of library, menu
of the cafeterias, and how to use the main ground. By doing this, he was able
to have high confidence, and be passionate in his tasks. In particular, he
showed a longer attention span and a stronger ability to delay gratification.
Moreover, he got a higher GPA after joining the union. Without such experience,
he would have fallen
behind.
All things considered, I strongly
believe that the advantages of students’ participation while
making a decision on campus far outweigh its disadvantages while
making a decision on campus for the reasons I have mentioned above. All in
all, the importance of students’ ideas cannot be
over underestimated in campus life.
