It is of great worth to discuss whether or not teachers students are more affected by their teachers than by
their friends. While some people might agree with the statement, (statement자체가 아직 없습니다.) the others might agree
with it. As far as I am concerned, I disagree with
the notion that teachers have a bigger impact on
their students as with the following
reasons.
First of all, Friends plays a more
important role in broadening their students’
perspective than teachers. This is mainly because we can readily be exposed to the fields and studies that we have
never seen before while interacting and sharing my opinions with friends who have different majors, interests,
and talents. Consequently, we can take a quantum leap in intellectual growth
thanks to friends. From my experience, when I was in college, I spent most of
my spare time with friends who were in the same geography study group. As a
result, during not class but group studies
with friends, I could learn about a wide variety of unique regional cultures
such as food and dialects by talking and socializing with them.
Additionally, friends help maintain a student’s
mental health. An important reason is that a substantial number of
studies have clearly demonstrated is that humans
are social animals who need interaction and a sense of belonging. Moreover, people feel satisfied and secure when they
know that they are being accepted and loved by not vertical relations with
teachers but horizontal relationships with
friends. A few weeks ago, I had a chance to read an op-ed piece that was
related with the topic. It described the result of a survey that was conducted
by Seoul National University in Korea. In the survey, more than 70 percent of
students responded that the relationships with their friends, rather than the relationship with their teachers, increase
created a good atmosphere which lead led students to be comfortable in class rather than
the relationship with their teachers.
To sum up, friends
has have a more crucial impact on
students in terms of students’ perspective and mental health than teachers do. For these reason, I strongly
disagree with the statement that students are more influenced by their teachers
than by their friends.
