▶ Your Answer :
Specializing in
one specific subject is a controversial topic which has caused heated over a
long period of time. Some people believe that it is better to specialize in one
specific subject rather than to have broad knowledge of many academic subjects.
However, in my opinion, it is better to have broad knowledge to widen your
insight and increase the opportunity to get the job that you want.
First and
foremost, the broad knowledge of many academic subjects help people widen their
insights. Therefore, utilized in different various kinds of situation. When
people encounter the problem they can solve problems easily because they can
consider the problem in several aspects and find out the best solution. For
instance, one of my friend is in majoring in chemistry. According to her
experience, her extra knowledge of biology helps her understand chemistry more
deeply. As a result, she was able to become a competent student in the college.
Thus, experiencing new subjects can help us make the foundation of other
subjects and have a better insight into understanding various subjects. As you
can see, the vast knowledge has the prominent benefits to all the people.
The more
knowledge you have, the more job opportunities you are given. Today, it is
impossible to predict the future in your life. You probably have to change your
job due to some reasons, and people who have specialized in one specific subject
will have difficulties getting other jobs. On the other hand, people who have various
knowledge can get different jobs, because they have also been involved in other
academic subjects. Additionally, some people combine two or more specific
subjects in altogether and make them succeed. For example, a popular cartoonist
has the unique drawing skill, but it was not exceptionally bright. However, he
also has the great storytelling ability. He combined these two techniques
together, and finally he became one of the best cartoonist in the world.
Knowledge
is the power. The broad knowledge makes people powerful and inspired. It offers
more chances to get more of the jobs. At the same time, it provides you
comprehensive insight, and you can cope with unexpected situations. In
conclusion, it is better to have broad knowledge of many academic subjects than
to specialize in one specific subject.
