Some people think ranking
grades in the class lowers students’ learning because they get more stress. However, in
my opinion, Students will try to learn more when grades are provided because
each person will recognize there position compared with others, and this would
eventually lead them to develop themselves more.
To begin with, It is easier
for the students to overcome their own problem when they know what is wrong.
Students will know the position of his state compared with others when grades
are provided. Each of them will recognize what parts they are inefficient while
talking with friends who are better then themselves. When I was in high school,
I was not good at history at the very first time. Of course I got a low grade
on the class, and after that, I ask one of my friends how to study history. He
told me the process of thinking that is useful when learning history, and
eventually I got a better score then before.
On top of that, because
students know the position, they will be motivated much more to learn related
to the situation they do not know the grade. This is because showing grades to
the students makes competitve environment between the classmates. Positive
competition is advantageous for students to learn fast. For instance, I enjoy
playing tennis with one of my best friend while taking a rest. Because we both
wanted to beat each other, we practiced harder and harder to get a victory.
After few years passed, we found an astounishing truth that me and my best
friend is at top seed compared to others who started learning tennis in similar
time.
I strongly believe providing
grades to the students promotes learning because they can ask others more
efficiently to higher their ability and there is a positive effect while
competing others. In this regard, I agree with the statement. |
