Some people might think that a teacher's earnings should be based on his or her student's performance. However, I think a teacher's income should not be based on his student's grades. This is because a teacher does not know the students who she would teach, and the students can exploit this system.
To begin with, a teacher would meet his or her students in random, which means his class could be consisted of students who has no interests in studying actually. For example, My aunt is a tutor of an English academy. And last year, she had hard time because the students never concentrated her lecture and said they do not want to take the lecture. She tried to encourage students, but they did not responded for 3months. No methods worked whatever she tried.
On top of that, If students can affect a teacher's paycheck, they might neglect their study. Because they could think that not taking class is valid due to being able to express the objection to reject it.
There was a pole conducted by Seoul High school Students' Union Association with high school students in Seoul as respondents. The purpose of the survey was to understand the consensus view about the motivation of taking class. The majority of respondents ranked the favor of teachers over other condition, such as facilities, and classmates. An overwhelming 87% had responded that a teacher who are favored can effect their attitude while taking class since it does not boring and satisfy their personal interests. This survey shows that the students have a negative view of taking class by an unfavored teacher.
To sum up, Affecting a teacher's income by his or her student's performance is not valid and the students can misunderstand it easily to neglect their study. In this regard, I strongly believe that a teacher's earnings should not be affected by his or her students' performance. |
