Some people might think that living in urban areas is better than lives in rural regions for children. However, in my opinion, they would be able to take more advantages when living in countryside concerning the facts that it is beneficial for their health.
To begin with, living in rural areas is helpful for one's health life, especially children nowadays who undergo air pollution in cities. They are being exposed to severe air pollution caused by yellow dust or smog because there are lots of cars and factories in cities. In particular, children are vulnerable to this problem because their respiratory organ does not fully develop yet. Therefore, it can cause serious physical health problems such as asthma for them. In contrast, there is less such air pollution in rural areas since there are more trees and less modern facilities such as cars or factories. Hence, nurturing children in countryside would help them have stronger respiratory function and stay in good health. In this regard, the result of the study conducted by a group of medicine majors in Seoul University indicates that the prevalence rates of asthma among children is highest in Seoul where its, the biggest city in Korea with many factories and cars. In contrast, the rate is lowest in Sokcho, where it is a coastal city with few factories. From this result, we can say that the rural environment is more advantageous for children to keep in shape.
Moreover, living in rural areas is also beneficial for children's mental health. In cities, people are familiar to compete endlessly and tries out to struggle in order to stand out than other. As a result, the same can be said for parents who nurture their children. That is, parents in cities nowadays require their students to study more than their friends, and to go a wide arrange of academies in order to win their friends in schools. As a consequence, children are is getting more stress, and according to a survey conducted by National Center for Mental Health in Korea, the prevalence rates of child depression is getting higher these days. In contrast, in rural areas, there are less such competitions, and it is more leisurely since there are less people and few academies compared to cities. Thus, people in there tend to focus on their own lives, not to compare themselves with others, and parents in there will be the same. In this sense, I will give an example myself. When I was 8 years old, I lived in a big city, and my mom always forced me to study from early morning to late night, and to get higher grade in tests than other friends. It was a hugse stress for me, and made me hate studying. However, after our family moved to a countryside due to my father's business, she changed a lot. She no longer asked me to study consistently, and rather recommended to play in the grass. As a result, I was able to get less stress, and learned used to study voluntarily.
In conclusion, children can stay in shape not only physically but also mentally in countryside. In this regard, I firmly believe that living in rural areas is better for them compared to lives in urban areas.
