▶ Your Answer :
Opinions might be divided over whether people believe the news media
because it is a trustful source of unbiased information. People may take
diverse positions on the controversial issue by the age or occupation. I side
with the perspective that the news media is not reliable for the following two
reasons: firstly, there are some subjective thinking in the news media, and secondly,
the news media sometimes include wrong information.
To
begin with, the news media could be bound to contain subjective idea. This is
because the news articles are written by people. Therefore, there are likely to
include subjective thinking in the article. I will bring up my friend’s story as an
examples. I had a friend who are working on a news media company. He wrote an
article that was related to a social problem. He tried to write objectively,
but he could not exclude his subjective idea. The reason is that he included
his thinking spontaneously although he did not want to contain his subjective thinking.
Thus, He felt that it is not possible to exclude subjective idea in the news
media.
On
top of that, the news media can contain wrong information. If an author has
misconception, the wrong information could be propagated by the news media.
Therefore, the news media cannot be trustful enough. There are many articles which
reaffirm my viewpoints. A few weeks ago, I read an investigation which was
conducted by Seoul National University social science researcher with more than
100 the news articles as data for investigation. The purpose of the survey was
the consensus view about how many the news media contain misleading
information. Of the 100 articles, over 10 percent of articles have a wrong
information. This clearly explains that there could be wrong information in the
news media. .
In
conclusion, the news media could have not only subjective thinking but also
wrong information. In this regards, the news media cannot be believable.
