Undoubtedly,
habits from an early age play significant roles in people’s daily lives in many
of the places where they work or play. Some people think that being well
organized is most important for a young child, while others think that being
helpful to others or being honest is most essential for a young child. Both
sides may have their own reasons to support their views. If I had to choose one,
I would say that a young child has to be well organized. There are several
reasons as follows. To begin with,
being neat their surroundings allows children to improve the sense of responsibility.
Cleaning the room requires many obligations such as managing time, abiding by
rules, and respecting others who live together. When such obligations are
fulfilled, it is likely to bring a better result. For example, my youngest
brother used to be lazy and selfish. However, he has changed little by little
after he started cleaning up the house. To explain, our family has begun clean our
house together every Sunday morning by distributing work. He realized that his
active participation could help them mingle well with other members of the family,
while his laziness could negatively affect everyone. Naturally, he became more prompt
with time., played his part better, and even encouraged others to be more
responsible. Without this experience, he would still have been irresponsible. On top of that, when
children maintain the nice environment around them, it will help them to
cultivate important qualities needed for success. Cleaning to be well organized
requires children to be diligent, passionate and self-disciplined. When these
personal traits are developed, they are likely to realize that it brings a good
result in school. For example, Seoul National University found a huge
difference between two groups of young children in academic performance. One group
consisted of those who always maintained their surroundings tidy, and the other
group was made up of those who did not. The researchers found that the former
was likely to have a high score on the SAT than the latter. In particular, many
of the first group showed a longer attention span, a stronger passion in their
tasks, and a better ability to delay gratification. On the other hand, most of
the second group tended to get distracted easily, procrastinate, and act on
impulse. This is because tidy room helps them concentrate their work more
easily and build organization skills for their daily lives such as the order of
priority. This implies that being well-organized is the key to success,
academically as well as professionally. If one would live in the messy
environment, one would be fallen behind. All things
considered, the impact of being well organized far outweigh that of being
honest or being helpful to other. All in all, the importance of organization
cannot be overestimated in life.
