▶ Your Answer : | Some people think that making teachers retrain every five years is redundant. Because it requires a lot of money and time. However, I have a different idea. When it comes to the statement that teachers should retrain every five years to avoid being behind the times, I strongly agree. There are three reasons why I think so: educational curricula change frequently and teachers should follow the flow, many people tend not to develop themselves after they got a dream job, overall improved teaching quality also benefits students. First of all, a country's educational curricula aren't fixed for a long time. Teachers have to instruct their students with some steps of curricular which is implemented by a government. For instance, I think this kind of change occurs so often especially in my country, Korea. Our curricula are altered almost every year. Teachers have to sensitive for even tiny changes in the educational program. Thus if they don't retrain regularly, it's not easy to follow the current trend of education.
Also, once people achieve their dream, they are satisfied with what they have and get to be lazy. This is because they don't feel any nervous about their future. Especially in my country, I think almost countries may be similar though, teachers are government employees, which means there is less chance for them to being resigned from their job. So once they become a teacher, they don't try to accomplish self-development. Therefore every five years' training can give them refresh and feeling of starting again.
Lastly, teaching skills with high quality are beneficial to students. If teachers train every five years so that they develop their teaching skills gradually, they can teach their students better. When I was a high school student, there was a math teacher who had poor teaching skills. He's class was so boring so I always couldn't focus on the class, and he even couldn't answer what I asked. On the other hand, there's another teacher who had really good teaching skills. I was very interested in his class and my grade was also improved.
In summary, because of the radical changes in educational curricula, being lazy after getting a job, and high quality of teaching skills which benefit students, I agree with the statement that teachers should train every five years.
