Last summer vacation, when I was watching
video games which my friend, Timothy was playing, I saw him texting to his friends
with the game pad. I was pretty shocked that his spelling was so horrible even
if he was native. For example He wrote “impotent” which was supposed to be
“important”. That’s because that was informal writing so he did not care about
the grammars and spelling. In this point of view I disagree that Face-to face
communications is better than other types of communication.
Firstly, Organized communication such
as letter can help people make their point of view clear. A letter requires
formal pattern. For example, we have to write “dear~” or “To whom it may
concern” which point the receiver of the letter, and we start with greeting
sentence. Just after that we have to write the purpose of the letter which
helps making requirements of the letter. If you say only requirements to
someone, you will not get what you want because someone who hears what you are
saying does not understand why he should listen to you. On the other hand Face-to face
communication makes people more complicated. People cannot concentrate on
conversation for more that 2hours according to the statistics of Education
department of Korea. This means that we cannot figure out the point of view if
the conversation takes more than 2 hours. Especially, let’s say you are in the
police station. The criminal stole you wallet. Then the police officer will
require you to write the statement about the situation including when, where,
who and etc. That is because being in the station is the unexpected situation
and you are pretty nervous. The statement can help you answer the question when
you are investigated by the officer.
In
conclusion, Face to face communication can not be the best way to communicate.
Even if you are a good speaker, even if you can speak logically for more than 2
hours, you can not persuade someone. Human brain can not memorize all of the
information that you speak. That is why the organized communication or written
materials are important.
