Some people think that homeworks should be provided to students every day. However, in my opinion, teachers should not require students to do daily homeworks. This is because daily-basis homeworks can interfere with students’ other activities and worsen the relationship between teachers and students.
To begin with, students need to spend their time doing other activities rather than just homework. There are many other tasks rather than homework for students’ quality of life such as doing hobby, studying other subject or taking a break. So they can be unhappy because of shortage of time caused by homeworks. For example, when I was in high school, there were lots of mathematics homeworks every day. Because I tried to study English, not math, I couldn’t afford to solve math homeworks. Finally, I was exhausted at the end of semester and stayed in a hospital for the rest of my winter vacation. In other words, such tremendous homeworks had a bad effect on my school life.
On top of that, relationship between teachers and students can be ruined due to extensive homeworks. If we don’t submit the homework on time, teachers usually give penalties to them by lowering the grades, scold us or call their parents. This makes them feel uncomfortable against others and will break the relationship finally. According to the studies by Harvard University, students who had teachers with no mandatory assignments remember their teachers as great mentors and still are in contact with them. On the other hand, connections have broken between students and strict teachers. These students replied that they remind their teacher like role models whom they don’t want to resemble.
To sum up, every-day assignments can lower students’ entire happiness and destroy relationships between teachers and their apprentices. In this regard, I disagree with the statement that teacher should give students homework every day.
