▶ Your Answer :
A large number of people might argue that misunderstandings can be solved more easily when people send e-mail rather than use phone-call. Contrary to popular belief, I strongly believe that having some conversation over the phone can help people to solve problems more clearly for the following reasons: It helps people to build a stronger relationship and understand others well.
To begin with, talking over a telephone can contribute to building a stronger relationship. This is due to the fact that having some time to talk each other can create a comfortable atmosphere where people can bond and have a good time with loved one. Through light-hearted conversations, they can be easily connected and solve problems more easily. For example, when I was first met my friend, Jim, we hardly talked with each other and we had nothing in common. So, I misunderstood his attitude to me and I regarded him as a rude person. However, he tried to call me to solve my misunderstanding and we talked on the phone a lot. This conversation on the phone not only helped me to understand him and but provided some intimate shared experiences. After first talking, we often had phone-talking and bonded with each other. To be specific, we bonded by sharing sorrows and joys. These conversation opened up our hearts to each other, and he became my best friend. This obviously shows that talking on the phone can help people to solve problem and even make a better relationship.
In addition, having a talk on the phone enables people to understand well each other. This is due to the fact that when people have a conversation with others, people can grasp other people's intentions more easily through voice's tone and pitch. Through this conversation, people can solve problems clearly. According to a study conducted by Seoul National Communication Center of Korea in 2011, there was a huge difference between two groups of workers. People in Group A used a phone call to solve misunderstandings when they had a trouble with other companies and those in Group B sent e-mail. The researchers showed that people in Group A could address their problems more easily than those in Group B by 45 percent. In fact, they made others understand their situations and even made the deal successfully. On the other hand, those in Group B failed to solve problems and had another deep misunderstandings each other. This clearly indicates that talking on the phone allows people to understand each other and even helps people to achieve a goal.
In brief, although talking over a phone can often lead to unclear conversations, I personally contend that conversation over a telephone is more successful way to solve the problem rather than conversation through e-mails. All in all, a phone call cannot be underestimated in solving problem efficiently between people. | |
