First of all, students achievement?? stimulated by having grades as outside incentive. They study hard to get a high grades even if students are not interested in a subject.
For example, my friend Hana doesn't have any interest in physics. However, she knew that she would take a physics test and she always wanted to get a good grade. Second of all, grading provides students with concrete evidence of their scholarly progress. If there were no grades, students would not know how measure their performance. For instance, some alternative schools don't grade their students. Students don't have to worry about their grades. But, these schools' result of college entrance exam are bad. Students don't have to study hard because there are no way to grade their educational ability.
In conclusion, I think that grading must be exist because it encourages students to learn. Through grading, studen'ts achievement can stimulate stimulated and grading provides students with concrete evidence of their scholarly progress. For these reasons, I agree with this statement that grading encourages students to learn.
