Some
people say that teenagers having a job while they are still students are
worthless. They insist that teenagers should focus on their academic works.
However, I agree that it is beneficial for teenagers to have jobs for two
different reasons. First, they can be financially prepared for their college
years to come. Second, they can learn how to be responsible and independent.
As the
students start saving money from early years, they can be prepared ahead to pay
for their college. In many countries, college tuitions have increased rapidly
for last few years, and for some people these extremely high tuitions can be burdens.
If one’s parents are not able to support him, it will be almost necessary for
him to have a job while he is still a student. Let me take my experience as an
example. When I was a junior in high school, I knew my parents wouldn’t be able
to fully support me for my college years, so I started working. As I earned
money, I started saving them rather than spending, and when I got to college, I
was able to pay off over the half of my tuition by myself. I am so glad that I
got to have a chance to prepared, and proud of myself; it was definitely
beneficial.
Working
as a teenager does not only help you to make money, but also to learn how to be
responsible and independent. When they graduate from high schools, many people
leave their houses and become independent, and for those young adults, they
need to learn how to be responsible for their selves before they leave their
homes. Having a job helps them to get out of their cozy houses, and teaches
them how to be independent in the real world. It was reported that students who
had a job as a teenager tend to settle quickly in new environment, when they leave
for college.
In
conclusion, I agree that having a job as a teenager is a good idea for the
reasons that I mentioned above. It helps them financially to get ready for
their college years, and teaches them how to be independent as exposing them to
the real world.
