Many
children spend many times to play outside with their friends. Among the various
outside activities, sports are the primary activities they participate in. Some
people think that their children should play sports for competition with the
belief that it will have advantages for their children. However, in my opinion, what children
have to do is just enjoy the pure pleasure of sports for two reasons below.
To begin
with, unnecessary competition causes stress to youngsters. If their main
purpose of playing sports with friends is to win the game, they would be easily
exhausted and tired under the pressure that they have to vanquish the opposite side.
Furthermore, they could determine to use deceptive behavior only to earn a single
victory. When these vicious cycles repeated itself, children could no longer
trust their friends once were their best friends. For example, when I was
young, I used to go out and hung out with my friends in the playground. One
day, when we were having a peaceful time in the middle of soccer play, one of
my friends suggested that losers of the match should buy candies to winners.
We all agreed because it appeared to be fun. However, after an hour we made the
deal, we began to be more offensive to each other and were arguing whether the
ball has passed the goal line. The game met its end with the fight of two friends.
This tragic event engraved in my mind so that I could have built a set of logic
that competition components in youngsters sports should be excluded.
On top of
that, pure pleasure comes from playing sports is essential for children to
build a healthy mind. Childhoods are the only period that one could enjoy
something without any worries or apprehension. Children must saturate their
youth with happy moments. Playing sports with their friends just for fun is one
of the best ways to accomplish this task. Several studies have shown that
people who have more appealing events in their childhoods tend to be more
positive and attractive than people who have less.
To sum up,
playing sports for fun could advantage children in two ways. One is that they get
less stressed out and another is that pleasure from playing sports is a very important
factor for children to grow up well. In this regard, I firmly believe that children
should play sports for fun rather than for competition. |
