In this set of materials, both lecturer and the writer deal with the extermination of the dodo. Regarding this matter, the lecturer refutes the writer’s clams one by one.
First of all, the lecturer contradicts the first idea of the reading passage that non-native animals brought by the Dutch devastate devastated the number of dodos. The lecturer mentions that the number of non-native animals was not substantial compared to the dodo population. Furthermore, scientists concluded that the extinction of the dodo resulted from a natural disaster according to the dodos’ skeletons. Also, most of non-native animals were in domestication under Dutch control. Thus, the lecturer asserts that the first idea of the reading passage cannot be validated. is not valid.
On top of that, the lecturer runs counter to the writer’s second idea that the dodos were significantly damaged by Dutch colonists. The lecturer points out that dodo’ meat was tough and not tasty. So it cannot be considered as a food source for the Dutch.
Finally, the lecturer casts doubt on the writer’s last idea that the habitat habitat of the dodos was destroyed by agricultural activities of the new settlers. The lecturer explains that fossil records show that Calvaria trees still existed at the time of dodos’ extinction. This means they dodos had fruits and seeds for dodos to be able to eat. they가 무엇을 지칭하는 것인가요? Hence, the dodos’ extermination does not sound convincing.
