Many assume that television is not beneficial to children. Eliminating TV from home is becoming a popular social trend. However, in my opinion, parents should let their children watch television for two reasons. One is that television enables children to study more efficiently, and another is that it has its own educational effects on children. To begin with, watching television provides rest to children. They feel pleasure while they watch television. Also, children would achieve more academic accomplishments if their parents properly balance the time their children spend on watching TV and studying. Several studies have shown that children who have enough time to relieve themselves could concentrate more on their homework than the children who do not have. Actually, I’m the one who benefits from watching television when I was young. My parents used television as incentives for my study. I could watch television after I finished all my homework. So I tried hard to finish them before my favorite television program starts and eventually I could not only have a joyful time with television but could have done what I had to do on time. On top of that, watching television provides children an opportunity to learn. There are a lot of TV programs that contain useful information and lessons for children. Children could learn about many things that even their parents cannot teach. Parents could assure their youngsters that have strong crave to depend on their parents with television when they have to go outside without their children. Furthermore, conversations about fancy television programs are essential in youth culture. Children could build a sense of positive companionship with their friends by sharing what program they prefer foremost.
To sum up, watching television allows children to learn important lessons and to have occasional leisure time. In this regard, I firmly believe that parents could benefit more from letting their children watch television than strictly avoiding it. |
