▶ Your Answer : Recently in Korea, government suggested schools to reduce the time of art subjects and concentrate more into science and IT subjects for children’s future job. But I agree with the statement “Children should have art and music as mandatory school subjects along with math, history, science, and language.”with huge confidence.
To start with, learning music and art get to know themselves. Like a language, music and art enables one to express the emotions and inner feelings of themselves. Thanks to the various experiences I had in my childhood, I could ask what I like and how do I feel to myself learning art, and it made me find out what I should do and what I want to study for that. Plus, it also enabled to understand the other’s mind. Growing up means to get to know how the others think and feel in their lives. I mean, it is very important to learn the way to look into one’s mind, and find out “what am I”. This experience of “getting know to myself” in childhood works as an important factor in mental growing up, which should be done primarily to the other scholar studies.
Second, Music and Art reduce one’s stress, so the other studies would be more efficient. There was a study to determine whether music class could affect the test score of other subjects. There were two groups, one only learning science subject for full 5 hours a day and the other group having music class twice a day between science classes. One week later, they had a science test and second group got a higher school in average. In the following interview, first group mentioned that they got so much stress while stress, and they even didn’t have a time to reduce it. So they became to be less concentrated as time passes. On the other hand, second group students said they were having fun while learning music, and that two hours per day played a key role in their longer concentration. This study demonstrates that having some cultural studies can lead to the increase of the efficiency of the other subjects.
Third, children can learn also learn history when day learn music and art. For exeample, “Impressionism” in art history was being affected by “Japonism”, which means japan culture fever in late 19th century, and it means artists were also being infected by the commercial exchange between eastern and western countries. Like this, cultural development has a deep connection with history. so, If students learn music and art, they can also be friendly with the history, and it will be helpful when they study history subject.
In conclusion, I strongly agree with the statement “Children should have art and music as mandatory school subjects along with math, history, science, and language.”, because it is a great way of getting to know themselves, it enlarges the efficiency of studying, and students learn history while they are having art and music classes. |
