There has been an argument regarding the issue of whether it is better to spend time with one or two close friends than with a large number of friends. Some people maintain that it is better to hang out with a big group of friends because they broaden their outlook on life through sharing different experiences and perceptions with each other. However, from my perspective, it is paramount to interact with a few close friends than with a large group. In this essay, i will present two reasons to support my idea.
To begin with, when going out with a small number of people, it is easier to develop deeper connections with them. By and large, people spend substantial amount of time with only close friends and during this time, they develop intimacy between them. For example, my best friend and I first met each other in high school. In the beginning, we were in a big group of friends and i did not really know about him. As it was very arduous to talk to him individually when there were many other people, i was not particularly close with him. In fact, when i saw him outside the group, we started to communicate more and understood each other better. As we spent more times together, our friendships got fortified. I did not make many new friends at that time albeit I am complacent as I found a friend for life. friend for life이라는 표현이 굉장히 적절히 잘쓰인 것 같아요.
On top of that, within just a small group of friends, people can have more personal conversations. Generally, people do not have a meaningful conversation within a big group because they are not really close with everyone. After all, there is usually this one person who is voluble and commences frivolous conversations. On the other hand, people tend to feel more comfortable around a group of close mates. For instance, in large gatherings, I often tend to keep quiet and do not share my perspective because i feel formidable that the others are at odds with me. But when i am with my intimate peers, i become talkative and talk to them about anything from family matters to interesting stories. I would say the conversation is much more private and valuable.
In a nutshell, my contention is that, it is more beneficial to associate with just a small number of buddies. This is because it allows people to nourish relationships in greater depth and that enables people to discuss personal matters.
