▶ Your Answer :
People have
different opinions on whether books are more important source than experience
for gaining knowledge. I agree that more important source is books rather than
experience for two reasons. First, you can learn efficiently from books.
Second, there are things that you can learn only from books, not from
experience.
Most of all, it is
possible to gain knowledge from books more efficiently. Gaining knowledge from experience
always requires time and cost. Suppose you want to know about other countries’
cultures or universe. If you will learn those things from experience, you would
have to be physically in other countries or universe. You can do this, but this
is not an easy thing. You need a lot of time and money for travelling. However,
if you use books, you could gain knowledge more conveniently. The only things
you need are relevant books and time for reading. This shows that books are
more economical source for gaining knowledge.
Besides, some
knowledge could be gained only from books. Of course, you can learn things from
experience, but you cannot learn everything when you only rely on experience.
For example, how do you gain knowledge about history from experience? What kind
of experience will you do in order to learn that why Korea has been divided for
over 50 years? When I study history, important source is not experience but
books. After reading historical books, I learned what happened in the past and
understood how it has affected until now. This demonstrates that books can
provide knowledge experience cannot.
In conclusion, I
agree that books are more important source than experience for gaining knowledge
for the reasons that I have mentioned above. First, it is possible to gain
knowledge from books more efficiently. Second, some knowledge could be gained
only from books.
