Universities
are full of a variety of facilities. Some are for sports activities, and others
are for studying facilities like libraries. Some people insist that universities
concentrate their resources into the studying buildings, so there is no need to
invest money into the sports programs. However, sports are the prerequisite
activities for university students, therefore the universities should keep
investing into sports.
To begin with, by
playing sports, people can learn some valuable lessons which they cannot do in
the classrooms. Sports can give various experiences to students. They can learn
how to work as a team, how to compete against others, how to maintain their
pace, etc. These valuable experiences cannot be taught in classrooms. To be
specific, when we play soccer, even if one of our players has the dominant performance,
we cannot win the game without the cooperation. Only if the team members gather
together and help one another, we can beat the opponent. Thus, while playing
soccer, we become used to cooperate with crew members. Teamwork is
indispensable in life. Someday, we can capitalize our abilities to cooperate.
It is the university that provides students with the opportunities for teamwork.
Next, doing
sports actually helps students to study harder. There are studies saying the
sound physical condition leads to the good concentration. Therefore, if people
build their body or strengthen stamina, they can better focus on materials when
they study. For example, I like to swim once in a while. I usually go to the
swimming pool in school and swim for about an hour. After getting out of the
cool water, I feel like I am born again. After swimming, I go to the library
and open the bookings. It is the best moment for me to focus on the subjects.
Everything looks clear to me, so I can learn faster than ever. If the school’s
swimming pool were to be rebuilt into a library, I could not concentrate at
all.
To sum up,
universities should regard the sports as important as studying buildings like
libraries. It is because sports provide students with valuable lessons, and
help students better concentrate. As the old saying goes, a sound mind in a
sound body. |
