▶ Your Answer :
There is a famous Korean saying that “A
person who can do a particular thing in great skill is better than a person who
can do everything imperfectly.” This was a common saying that my teacher used
to tell our class whenever she wanted to emphasize the fact that focusing on a
one thing is the best. Therefore, I agree with the statement that universities
and high schools should teach students about specific careers and fields
instead of general subject for the following reasons: professionalism and
efficiency
To begin with, people can be very
professional as to how to deal with particular subject. Since they got wide
knowledge, they are easily accessible to get into a company. Companies always
want intelligent who would always be a big help. When they enter there, they
are likely to be paid high amount if their abilities are approved by managers
which are a big advantage for them because economical depression is a big
concern for nowadays. Through this, they might have a sense of confidence thus
show more career achievement. However, if the students are thought everything
minors not critically important for them, they may struggle even though got
into highly valued company. Thus, this show that priority is always do
something first related to their future career than learn variety of general
subjects at once.
Furthermore, it is much more efficient for
the students who have clear goal and dream. According to the recent research by
the institute of Korea education, it states that Korea is a number one country
as to have tremendous numbers of subjects unimportant to individuals’ future
career. So actually they have no time to experience and learn about subjects
they really want to major in. For example, I realized there are so many
problems in education system in high school. Students learn just so many
unimportant subjects because universities also evaluate them. So they do not
have any time to learn what they really want. When they get in to a university,
instead of studying hard they wanted to learn at high school, people just play
since they were stressed out during high school. However, if students learn
about specific career they may save time because they are able to master all
the theories and focusing to experience in practical way in university thus
quicker to employed. Therefore, it is much more efficient to be taught a
specific career.
In conclusion, professionalism and
efficiency are the reasons why I agree with the following statement that
universities and high schools should teach students about specific careers and
fields instead of general subjects. Some people might argue this by saying;
they still need to learn general subjects as well since all the majors are
based on basic knowledge. However, if really get in to the work; they may feel
there is no need to apply basic knowledge came from variety of subjects.
