▶ Your Answer :
Today, the use of internet to students has been under debate. Some
people regard it positive based on
numerous convincing reasons. However, I strongly disagree with the statement
that internet helps students to learn more effectively. Although there are many
plausible reasons in support of my position, I will limit them to the two most
convincing: First, Internet actually distracts students to concentrate by
providing interesting matters, and second, it takes too much time to use
Internet because there are too many information.
First of all, the most important reason in
support of my claim is the loss of concentration that Internet causes to young
students. When students click the Internet icon, there are so many interesting matters
such as news about a popular singer or ads that are introducing a new game. It
is not so hard for them to forget what they were trying to do and waste time
doing what they did not even intended to do. In my case, when I was in high
school, I had a very important test the following day that would decide what
university I would go. I decided to search some information that I had
questions about on Wikipedia. Unfortunately, I was so shocked to the pop up
news on search engine that my favorite actor had decided to marry soon.
At that moment I forgot what I was doing and spent almost 3 hours reading the celebrity
section(연예섹션). Thus,
as illustrative through my case, Internet deprives the precious time students
have.
Another reason for my argument is that when
using internet to learn more about particular subjects, students waste time
searching what they want among redundant information. When students put
the key word they studied in class in the search engine, there comes out
hundreds of infos containing the same word. However, in most cases, these words
are used in other intentions. According to a recent research done by the Education Ministry(교육부), it is easy to see that many students are having problem. 78% of
the respondents answered that they think they are having trouble searching the
information they want. Thus, as demonstrative through the research findings, Internet
is a rather ineffective means when learning by searching.
In
sum, when students study, they should not use Internet because it not only
distracts concentration but also deprives(빼앗다)
the precious time of students. Therefore, based on
the reasons provided above and its logical development, I believe I have
successfully demonstrated the validity of my claim through this essay. |
