Generally speaking, outfit cannot change
the fundamental aspect of a person. However, in my opinion, what a person wears
definitely affects his or her behavior. This is because the clothing affects
our body language or posture and influences our mind as well.
First of all, outfit we wear changes how
we act. This is the primary reason why we have a social norm for clothing. For
example, one wears a suit for a job interview. This is partly because to show a
respect to the senior interviewer, but there is a certain part of the reason
that the suit encourages us to act in more professional manner. One generally
seats more uptight and cares about the body language when he or she wears suit.
On the contrary, comfortable and flexible clothes in fitness center allow us to
have whatever posture we need to take during the work out.
Second, our mental attitude also
changes depending on the clothing we wear. With certain type of outfits, we
tend to be more cautious and disciplined. For instance, one of my friends who
works as a cop shows a totally different behavior when he wears the uniform and
when he does not. Under ordinary circumstances, he wears comfortable clothing
and act very casually and humorously. However, whenever he wears his uniform
on, it seems that he transforms into another –a professional- human being. His
behavior becomes much more guarded and he even uses totally different language
under his uniform.
All things considered, the outfit definitely affects
our body languages and posture, and people tend to have different attitude and
use different language even, when wearing certain type of outfit. In this
regard, I think the clothes a person wear influences his or her behavior. |
