The divisive issue is frequently talked about. Unsurprisingly, people from different walks of life put different interpretations on the same issue. Thus, the jury may still be out, but as far as I am concerned, people attend universities to find good jobs and widen their perspectives by learning new language and meeting various people. In this essay, I will present some reasons and examples to support my claim.
The primary cause that is usually observed is that students attend universities to find good jobs. This is because students are provided with many kinds of knowledge and skills which are useful when they work at jobs. Also, a university degree is essential for students who want to be an employee of big companies or look for specialized jobs. According to a report recently published by Ministry of Labor, proportion of people getting a job is heavily dependent on whether students graduated from a university or not. Furthermore, it shows that students who graduated from universities earn much better than the other people do. This is attributed to the reason that big companies which pay high salaries tend to choose applicants educated in universities to excel in knowledge and ability. In this regard, it is imperative for students to attend universities.
What is also a valuable point is that students can widen their perspectives by learning new knowledge and experiencing various events. Universities offer not only various subjects such as philosophy, arts, economics, business administration, and so on during their academic courses but also many kinds of social and sports clubs. Students have a chance to understand other fields of study and culture while at schools. For instance, I took the class on Comprehension of Russia and learned about her culture and characteristics. Especially, I was taught about Russian literature, reading the novel of Dostoeviskii during the class. His novel, Crime and Punishment, made me think of human nature and Russian life style at that time. In this sense, it is a good way for students to broaden their views on the world.
In conclusion, I strongly argue for my standpoint on account of the two reasons mentioned above. Once again, although the verdict may still be out, I personally believe two of my rationales above are sufficiently convincing enough to represent the viewpoints of a majority of people who are in favor of my claim.
