▶ Your Answer : There is an argument to be had that airplanes have made a greater impact on society than cars, but I believe that cars have made a greater impact than airplanes due to its easy accessibility and less expensive.
Airplanes have an edge over cars in many aspects. First off, airplanes can transport people across oceans and continents in a relatively short amount of time. It would be impossible to travel from US to Korea in less than a day. Also, the number of people that can go on an airplane makes airplanes efficient in mass travel. However, airplanes severely lack in its impact from getting to one place from another if it is a short distance. Also because an airplane must carry lots of people in order to take off (assuming that the airplane is not a private charter and a commercial airliner’s airplane) it cannot be used on a daily basis by most people.
Cars, on the other hand have a distinct advantage of being accessible to people. There are myriads of cars in the world that help people get from their home, to work, and to social outings. Cars are also more individualistic, allowing people to not be hindered by where other people needs to go and only needing to focus on where they themselves need to go. If say you want to go to the grocery store, you are not stopped from doing so by another person needing to go the dentist or someone who wants to go to the movies.
The price tag on each type of vehicle also means cars have a greater impact on most people’s daily lives. While plane tickets cost thousands of dollars, cars are relatively cheaper and it is your once you buy it. This means that the average person is more likely to never have ridden an airplane rather than never having been in a car. Only the more privileged, upper class members will be able to have constant access to airplanes due to the financial burdens that come with traveling via airplane.
In conclusion, cars have had a greater impact on people due to its easier accessibility and relative cheapness compared to airplanes.
