▶ Your Answer :An ongoing debate exists over whether reading its local newspapers
and magazines is the best way to learn about a foreign country. A growing
number of people believe that people can know about foreign country with great
easy by surfing the internet as the internet is the fastest and the latest
source. My view, however, is that local newspapers and magazines are good
resource of learning about a foreign country. This is largely because we can
learn about their present situation. Moreover, we are able to get used to their
culture. To begin with, those
published sources make us possible to learn about a foreign country. It is no
secret that those resources are exactly present a countries’ real situation.
Of, course it might be a little bit slower than the internet as it needs time
to be published. But it really shows all about a country from economy to
society. I show an example of my foreign friend who came to Korea to learn
Korean. She, my friends read about on-line newspaper and Korea-Times to learn
about magazines. And as you know both of this contain many things related to
Korea. And when she came to Korea, she met me and we talked to each other. And I
realized that she knew about everything about Korea more than me. So I was
really surprised at this situation and asked her how she knew about all these
things. And she told me that she read on-line newspapers and Korea-Times. As my
friends showed to me, reading those materials is really good to learn about a
foreign country.
Furthermore, It is really
good to know about a countries’ culture. Of course, a large amount of people content
that we can know about culture more easily by searching the internet. However,
the source we get on the internet is not proved things. Not only that, but information
on the internet can be easily changed by the anonymous. But a magazines and
newspapers are published by experts. So it is more formal and believable. For
example, when I was a freshman, I had to hand out my mid-term paper. I had to
research all my reference through books. But I had no time, so I researched some
reference on the internet. I handed out that paper on time. But later on, my
professor gave me ‘D’. So I asked him the reason. He said that some reference I
used were not proved things. So those reference are useless. I wanted to tell
some excuse but I couldn’t because he was right.
To summarize, magazines and newspapers are excellent way to learn
about a foreign country on the grounds that it allows us to learn about a
countries’ situation and it is really formal and believable source of a foreign
culture. Of course, Internet can do it, but it is not believable. Therefore
newspapers and magazines are the best way to learn about a foreign country. |
