Some people think that teachers should not be evaluated and be compensated steadily for their work period. However, in my opinion, teachers should be paid according to their student’s academic achievements. This is because teachers’ fundamental purpose to be is teaching students their knowledge, and there are already many remarkable results that some schools showed which had been pointed as laboratory schools and had conducted these series of studies.
To begin with, the main reason teachers exist is to pass their knowledge down to students. Although there is another opinion that teachers also should teach such as life, social relationship, personality, etc., but these people will not disagree that the main and basic purpose of teacher is make students know something. And for these purpose, teachers need assessing and evaluating by students performances for the people who want to know teachers are doing their jobs well and for teacher themselves to enhance their class-quality. According to one question investigation conducted by TEACHER ORGANIZATION in Japan founded that about 75 percent of participants responded they think students academic performances are densely connected with their teaching way, and it will be helpful to distribute their payments by evaluating students’ academic achievements to improve their teaching quality, and they are willing to recognize the results despite of degrading their payments.
On top of that, there are already many reports that teacher evaluation systems for their students’ performances are greatly affected on changing school’s overall landscape positively. For example, one high school in Tokyo instituted this policy, and after 10 months, it became top rank school according to the research conducted by JAPANESE EDUCATION INSTITUTION. The institution evaluated students’ academic achievements, one’s level of satisfaction, school’s security, possibility of development, etc., and the school was highly assessed at the areas of academic performances, level of satisfaction, possibility of development.
To sum up, compensating teachers based on the performance of their students make their teaching quality improve. Moreover, these also have impacts on school’s all of the aspects to alter positively. In this regard, I agree with the notion that students’ academic achievement should be the basis for how much teachers are compensated. |
