▶ Your Answer :
There is no shortage of
opinions on what the government should manage its budget during an economic
crisis. In my opinion, I suggest that the government should reduce expanse for
education rather than health care and support for the unemployed, in times of
an economic crisis. I strongly believe that there are no close relations
between education and economic crisis, considering that average period for
education like from elementary school to high school is quite long. The
following paragraphs will explain my two major reasons for this opinion.
To begin with, spending for
education by government is not directly helpful for overcoming the economic
crisis. Generally, government takes over education fees such as attending from
elementary school to at least high school. It means the result that the policy
delivers will appear after students graduate from high school. For example, the
researchers of Yonsei University conducted a survey. In the survey, employees
were asked to check that when they start their job. The survey showed that the
most of employees joined in working fields when they are 23 years in average,
after graduation. Thus, analyzing the case above, I can undoubtedly believe
that government should reduce expanse for education since the expanse does not
affect the economic environment directly.
Furthermore, government should
not reduce its spending for health care and supports for the unemployed because
these policies impact on the workers and job markets as well. Usually, people
who need health care systems and unemployment’s subsidies can join in the
economic system by earning or spending money. Following anecdote highly
supports the idea. during IMF crisis in South Korea, my parents decreased their
budget for my education but could not decrease it for hospitality fee to their
release. Since they spent the money for their health, they can work continually
and overcome the crisis. Similarly, government should focus on the people who
can make money and keep paying taxes. Therefore, it is reasonable to say that
government reduce its spending for education not for health care and supports
the unemployed.
