There are different opinions regarding which characteristics people should have to be a good co-worker. Even though there are a lot of characteristics that people can be recognized as good co-workers thanks to, I think that there are the most requisite parts of them. I will explain my idea by presenting two characteristics with their reasons.
First, responsibility is one of the most important characteristics. This is because those who are not responsible for their work always have a negative effect on co-workers. If there are people who intend to leave work on time without completing their own businesses, other people, who have to work overtime that day, have no choice but to undertake businesses instead of them. Not only would such people spoil companies’ mood, but also other co-worker become reluctant to work. For example, when I was in high school, a student always tried to avoid cleaning time. Making a lot of excuses, he managed to avoid it every time, and other students began to complain his acts to a class president. Even though the president tried to persuade him to participate in cleaning, he did not pay any attention to his words. Finally, an increasing number of classmates made excuses not to participate in it, and as a result, the level of cleanliness of our classroom became worse. If he had perceived that he should be responsible with cleaning, our class would not have been that dirty.
Second, good co-workers should be competitive because people who cannot do their work properly are just an obstacle for others working with them. Meanwhile, competitive co-workers can help businesses proceed more quickly and suitably and cooperate with others, improving companies’ atmosphere. Therefore, they are beneficial assets in companies. For instance, I had an experience of participating in a scientific contest held by the national technology institute with a senior student. He was close to a master of science and had a lot of information associated with the contest. He often made an amount of advice for me, and it was helpful for me to decide on the topic and how to write a report. The more time I spent with him, the more conviction I had to win the first prize . Even though I could not win it, I won the prize for students who make a creative proposal. If I had not had a chance to participate in the contest with such a competent person, not only would I not have won the prize, but also had such experiences.
In conclusion, based on what I have just mentioned, I am convinced that to be the person whom people wanted to work with, he should be responsible and competent. |
