▶ Your Answer :
The intriguing topic of discussion is at
hand whether because environmental issues are very complex, individuals can do
nothing about them on their own. The answer to this question can vary greatly
depending on individual perspectives. Thus, the jury may still be out, as far
as I concerned, I disagree with the statement. In this essay, I will present
two reasons supporting my standpoint as follows.
First of all, actually, the effects on
environmental issues by individuals are considerable. According to a recent
report by the National Research Center of Korea, the magnitude of air pollution
in seoul, Korea declined owing to recycling and saving resources. This is because
citizens who lived in seoul tried to protect their surroundings from being
polluted. Moreover, the survey said that it is significant not to use a
merchandise that recharge carbondioxide which trigger the destory of the ozone
layer. This behavior should be done by the individual as a principal agent.
In this sense, although it is true that environmental
issue is too complex for individuals to solve the problem entirely. No matter
how trifle it is, in the long term, individuals could address the issue
partially.
Also, environmental issues cannot be solved
in the short period. In other words, when individuals strive to make
environment clean from an early age, it is possible. Many schools emphasize on
the importance of environmental education especially understanding the severity
of environmental issues and practice. Take my experience as expample. When I
was a high school student, my teacher always stressed the ways to improve our
environment. In addition, she led me
pick up trashes around the school every Monday. Even though it seems like a
trivial thing, it motivated me to consider environmental problem significantly.
After 10 years, today, I still try to secure our environment and participate in
the forum about research on air pollution every year. In this regard,
environmental issues could be treated by main agent, individual.
In conclusion, I strongly argue for my
standpoint on account of the two reasons mentioned above. Once again, although
the verdict may still be out, I personally believe that two of my rationales
above are sufficiently convincing enough to represent the viewpoints of majority
of people who are in favor of my claim. |
