Since the Industrial Revolution in eighteenth century, technology has been rapidly advanced. That change was enough to develop whole new transportation system, which consists of cars, airplanes, and so on. Now, many people maintain that a plane - the fastest way to travel in the world - brings the greatest effect on society ever. Although I should admit its own advantages, I still believe that a car had a much further influence on our lives.
A car has leaded to an increase in individual availability to travel. In other words, a car is the most useful method, as a daily transportation. For example, my father always drives to his work in the morning. Even though his workplace is about 60 kilometers far from home, he can travel that distance every single day. If he didn't have his own car, he would have to find another job near the house, which can limit job opportunities.
On top of that, a plane is not often used as a car is, for it is too expensive to travel by place. Still there are quite a number of people who haven't taken a plane. My grandmother, who loves to go on a trip, has not traveled by plane. She says that she doesn't really need to take a plane, because a car always help her get to the place she wants visit economically. These can verify the fact that an airplane has less usefulness than a car has.
To sum up, a car benefits much more than an plane because of its closeness in people's daily life and its excessive cost. For these reasons, it wouldn't be impossible to portray today's world, assuming that there doesn't a car exist ever! |
