▶ Your Answer :
Some people think that it is not necessary to get information from various news sources. However, I personally think that people should get information from various sources in order to stay well-informed.
First, people can get more reliable information by getting information from diverse sources. Second, all the media companies could be easily affected by the profit of the sponsor companies. To begin with, people could have more credible information from diverse news sources. Each media has their own point of view about an incident. Thus, it is not easy to know about which fact is true. As a result, people have to find out the truth about the information by considering various aspects of each incident. Take the example of the Iraq War. When the Iraq War occurred, each media had a different point of view. In the case of the American broadcasting station like FOX, they said that the War is inevitable evitable. Then, they also describe US army as the guardian of freedom. However, Arabic media usually considered the war as invasion by the greedy States. We could see the different opinions about same incidents.
Additionally, media could not stay against the profit of their sponsor companies because media companies sustain their companies by getting advertising expenses/. Thus, the media sometimes reflects the opinion of their sponsor companies. As a result, they could be biased to support their sponsor companies. According to the survey conducted by the New York Times, 58% of CEOs answered that they could not cover the articles that are against their sponsor companies. They indicated that they should pursue the profit of the companies to keep getting advertising expenses from them.
All in all, I support the statement that people should be informed from a variety of news sources. First reason is that they could get more reliable information. In addition, each media could be biased. For these reasons, we need to be well informed by getting credible information from diverse sources.
